Identified the key operational and vendor drivers behind inventory losses, enabling a national distributor to cut costs and enhance supply chain reliability.

MitaCast Nova partnered with the Supply Chain leadership team to analyze and address recurring product damages and expirations causing major inventory losses.
We supported the team in data preparation, statistical modeling, and visualization using JMP and Python, uncovering key drivers across vendors, warehouses, and product types. We support a root cause workshop, where cross-functional teams developed actionable improvement plans.
Key Insights:
15% of SKUs caused over 70% of total loss value.
Expirations linked to long dwell times and replenishment gaps.
Damage correlated with packaging and carrier handling practices.
